For sale, this rare pair of Japanese moulded in shallow relief, crane shaped dishes, decorated in iron red, black and gold, dating late 17th early 18th century. Each dish moulded to pick out the crane's plumage, with the bird's head turned to the right. The reverse decorated in iron red with various symbols and standing on a raised shaped foot decorated with a key fret border. The foot burnt orange in places from the firing process. Each dish with just standard glaze shrinkage stress lines, common on this type of ware. Each dish with one small shallow rim flake as shown in the pics. The foot rim with one firing fault as shown in the pics. Each dish is approx. 15.1cm across and 12.5cm wide it an approx. depth of 3cm. In individual fitted wooden boxes.A rare pair of early dishes in excellent condition. Price £895.00
