Japanese Ginbari Cloisonné Enamel Table Screen, First Half of the 20th Century
A fine Japanese four-fold Ginbari cloisonné enamel table screen dating to the first half of the 20th century. Each panel is individually framed and decorated on the front with polychrome cloisonné enamel and silver wire, depicting birds, birds in flight, flowering branches, and rock formations against a stippled red ground.
The reverse is silver-toned and decorated with birds and bamboo. The screen is finished with a gilt brass edge. Unsigned, but likely the work of Inaba.
Dimensions: 33 cm wide when fully open; 18.5 cm high.
The cloisonné panels are in excellent, undamaged condition. The individual gilt frames show minor surface wear consistent with age. A very attractive and well-crafted piece.
