Japanese Arita set of five small foliate rimmed dishes, 18th century

On offer is this fine set of five Arita blue and white carved foliate rimmed dishes dating to the 18th century. Each dish is finely decorated to the well with sprigs of fruiting pomegranite and a single bird, the under glaze blue of rich vibrant tones. The wall on each dish divided into segments of carved decoration. The underside of each left plain. Each dish is approx 12.2cm in diameter and 2.5cm tall. The glaze on each dish showing the normal glaze shrinkage cracks to both front and back of each dish. One dish in perfect condition, with the other four having very minor chipping to a foliate petal, but only very slight, with the exception to one dish that has larger one. This is a very rare set and of super fine quality. Price £285.00
