Japanese Arita Imari deep dish with everted rim circa 1710

For sale a fine Japanese Imari deep dish with everted rim of petal form, circa 1710. Decorated in dark underglaze blue, iron red and gilt enamels, the well of the dish painted with stylised chrysanthemum flowerheads, prunus trees and peonies. The everted rim with flowers and foliage and the reverse similarly decorated. The base with a single chrysanthemum and spur marks. One very slight rim flake and one tiny bruise, some glaze and gilt age-related wear. Diameter 27.8cm and 4.8cm deep. Dishes of this same pattern and same date can be found recorded in Ko-Imari from the collection of Oliver Impey, by Barry Davies, the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, and the Louisa Ambrosio collection Naples.
