- Ralph & James Clews Luster Ware Large Plate (c. 1815–1834)
- For sale is a rare Ralph & James Clews luster ware large plate dating from approximately 1815–1834. The plate features a central transfer decoration depicting a Nieve-style walled residence, possibly American. The outer well and rim are finished with a bold, alternating thick-and-thin band of pink luster.
- The reverse carries impressed Clews marks. The plate is in original, unrestored condition and free from chips or cracks. Light staining and some surface wear are visible, as shown in the photos.
Dimensions: 25.5 cm in diameter, 2.4 cm deep.
A fine and uncommon piece for the Luster Ware collector.

The firm, commonly known simply as Clews, produced Staffordshire transfer-printed earthenware, much of it destined for the American market. Typical marks include impressed text such as “CLEWS WARRANTED STAFFORDSHIRE”, usually set within concentric circles surrounding a crown.
