Early 19th-Century Classical Saucer with Black Transfer Print — “Piping Shepherd and Shepherdess,” c.1820
For sale is an early 19th-century saucer featuring a Classical black transfer print known as the Piping Shepherd and Shepherdess design, dating to around 1820. The scene depicts a shepherd seated and reclining against a tree while the shepherdess stands beside him. Their dog rests beneath the tree, with two sheep lying peacefully in the foreground. Possibly by New Hall.
The saucer is in excellent, undamaged condition, free from chips or cracks, and shows very little wear.
Size: 14.5 cm diameter, 3 cm tall.
